About Aaron

Fresh out of college and one month into his first career as an engineer, a lightbulb went off for Aaron Grey. While attending a session to sign up for his company’s 401(k) plan, he recalls thinking that he was prepared. After all, he had just earned a difficult degree and even had grown up in and around his father’s investment advisory practice, which was based out of the basement of his house. Even so, Aaron remembers having absolutely no idea how much to contribute to his retirement plan, not to mention what counted as a sensible investment allocation. A few years later, Aaron decided to help others in similar situations by making the complex simple and made the move into wealth management.

Today, and true to his early professional experience, Aaron finds it most rewarding to work with people who feel anxious, fearful or uncertain about their financial lives. He now measures his accomplishments by helping people achieve what he calls financial serenity – a sense of peace, calm and confidence about their futures. For Aaron, that serves as a constant reminder that financial planning is about so much more than money.

As the managing director of client and advisor experience with Buckingham Strategic Wealth, Aaron helps advisors refine and perfect the experience they provide to our clients. Aaron also helps develop, implement, monitor and update wealth management strategies in pursuit of our clients financial goals.

Aaron joined Buckingham through the 2016 merger with Denver Money Manager LLC, where he worked from 2003 to 2015 and most recently as the firm’s managing partner. In that role, he oversaw the day-to-day operations of the firm and worked closely with clients to design a financial plan that would help them reach a place of financial serenity. Prior to entering the financial services arena, Aaron spent three years as an engineer in Texas and California.

Aaron earned his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering in 2000 from the University of Colorado Boulder. He also holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional designation.

Outside of work, Aaron has served for six years (including three on the board of directors) as a member of the Denver Active 20-30 Children’s Foundation, which raises more than $1 million each year for other local charities to help disadvantaged or at-risk youth. He has also volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado and LoDo Cares.

Aaron loves spending time outdoors, following all Denver-based sports teams and exploring the endless supply of craft breweries in his home state of Colorado. Aaron and his wife, Brooke, have two children, three well-meaning dogs and one misbehaved cat.
