About Sue

Named as one of ThinkAdvisor’s 2021 Luminary Thought Leaders and a University of Chicago Booth MBA, Sue brings an evidence-based approach to financial planning. She is the founder of Stevens Visionary Strategies and creator of the award-winning Dreams of Wealth™ series of books on personal financial planning ( Her books have won awards in multiple categories including business, personal finance, aging and body, mind and spirit.

Sue brings a wealth of experience from working at Morningstar, Vanguard, and Arthur Andersen. She has founded two firms—Stevens Wealth Management and Stevens Visionary Strategies—as well as founding Morningstar’s personal financial newsletter Practical Finance. She is currently part of The Financial Times’ Financial Advisor IQ Leadership Council. Sue has been quoted extensively in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Forbes, Morningstar, Barron’s, Reuters, the Chicago Tribune, the Washington Post, CNN, CNBC and NPR.

Sue earned an MBA from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago and she holds a master’s degree in wealth management from The College for Financial Planning. In addition, Sue is a Certified Public Accountant/Personal Financial Specialist, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy and a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder.
