About Susan
As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and Accredited Investment Fiduciary, Susan takes a total-care approach to identifying, organizing, planning, implementing and coordinating clients’ most important financial goals. She has years of experience in overseeing both the big picture and most specific details of clients’ financial lives, to help give them peace of mind that they’re on the path to achieving their dreams.
As a fiduciary, fee-only advisor, Susan takes a team approach to planning, building and managing clients’ customized investment portfolios. She works not only with her local team, but with Buckingham Strategic Wealth’s national network of investment and planning specialists, to ensure that even the most complex aspects of clients’ financial needs are well addressed. Susan also serves as a member of the Buckingham Investment Policy Committee.
Susan is an Enrolled Agent, a credential that equips her to be sensitive to and adeptly manage the significant impact that taxes can have on an otherwise well-developed financial plan.
Building on her years of experience in the securities and financial planning industry, Susan founded Strasbaugh Financial Advisory Inc. in 1998 to bring financial clarity and ongoing client care to individuals and families in Colorado Springs and across the western United States. Her firm joined Buckingham in 2018.
Susan holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Southern California. She is a member of several professional financial organizations, including the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) and the Estate Planning Council of Colorado Springs. Susan has been recognized as a Woman of Influence by the Colorado Springs Business Journal, an honor awarded to local women who have had numerous professional accomplishments and have made a positive impact on the community.
Susan serves on the board of directors of Care & Share Food Bank and a former board member of CASA of the Pikes Peak Region. She and her Buckingham team devote time each year working with local charities including Marion House Soup Kitchen, Care & Share Food Bank, and Community Partnership for Child Development. Outside of work, Susan unwinds by reading, travel, playing tennis and hiking on the many trails of Colorado with her husband, Richard, and two dogs. She is the proud "Nana" to grandson Kieran and baby boy number 2 on the way this fall.
